Sexual Health Improvement Project (SHIP) training

Sexual Health Improvement Project (SHIP) training

The Sexual Health Improvement Project (SHIP) seeks to complement sexual health education efforts that are already in place using non formal, interactive and participatory approaches. In a bid to empower young people to make informed and responsible decisions regarding their sexuality in Dokolo District, SHIP will train 20 Sexual Health Educators (SHEs) from July 6 – 10, 2014.   The training will culminate into the celebration of the 2014 World Population Day.

The training aims at equipping the trainees with knowledge and skills on Sexual and Reproductive Health of young people, which they will then transfer to the young people.  Among the topics to be covered are; Male-Female relationships, warning signs and the need of boundaries in female-male relationships, gender related stereotypes,  self esteem, assertiveness and confidence building, body parts, decision making, HIV/AIDS modes of transmission and prevention, Drug and Substance abuse, among others.

After the training, the trained SHEs are expected to hold a series of sexual health education sessions with groups of young people in selected schools where the SHEs will be attached.
